Event: Consumer Price Index/CPI Core (YoY, Mar) – European Union
Date: March 31, 2014

What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
The EU will open this week’s trading by releasing its CPI data, which is currently at 0.7% (consensus at 0.6%), and the CPI Core, which is at 1%.
 
Event: RBA Interest Rate Decision – Australia
Date: April 1, 2014
Time: 3:30am (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
The Reserve Bank of Australia isn’t expected to raise its interest rate until next year, but the main highlight of this event would be whether or not the bank will make any comment about the aussie’s value at the moment. If talks about it being overvalued returns to the statement, expect the currency to drop in value.
 
Event: Unemployment Change/Rate (Mar) – Germany
Date: April 1, 2014
Time: 7:55am (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
Germany’s unemployment rate for March is expected to remain at 6.8%, while its unemployment change is seen to drop by 10k, which is lower than the previous month’s drop by 14k.
 
Event: ISM Manufacturing PMI (Mar) – United States
Date: April 1, 2014
Time: 2:00pm (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
The US Manufacturing PMI is expected to rise slightly to 54.0 from the previous 53.2.
 
Event: GDP (YoY, QoQ/Q4) – European Union
Date: April 2, 2014
Time: 9:00am (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
The EU will release its GDP data for Q4 on Wednesday, which is currently at -0.3% over the past 12 months, and 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.
 
Event: RBA Governor Glenn Stevens Speech – Australia
Date: April 3, 2014
Time: 2:00am (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
As with the RBA’s monetary policy statement, watch out for the Governor’s statement about the value of the aussie.
 
Event: ECB Monetary Policy Statement – European Union
Date: April 3, 2014
Time: 12:30pm (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
Volatility in the euro, particularly the EUR/USD pair is to be expected around this time, especially once ECB President Mario Draghi speaks during the press conference.

Event: ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI (Mar) – United States
Date: April 3, 2014
Time: 2:00pm (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
The country’s current Non-Manufacturing PMI stands at 51.6.

Event: Employment Data (Mar) – Canada
Date: April 4, 2014
Time: 12:30pm (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
Canada will release a number of employment-related data, including the Net Change in Employment in March, which is expected to grow by 25.3, and its Unemployment Rate, which is seen to remain at 7%.

Event: Nonfarm Payrolls/Other Employment Data (Mar) – United States
Date: April 4, 2014
Time: 12:30pm (GMT)
 
What It Is About and Why It’s Important
 
One of the most anticipated events of the week is the US NFP data for March, which is expected grow by 196K. Meanwhile, its unemployment rate is seen to drop from the previous 6.7% to 6.6%.
